ABOUT THE COURSE
The Diploma in Food Safety is a career-oriented professional programme designed to develop essential knowledge and practical understanding of food safety, food hygiene, contamination control and safe food-handling practices. The course is suitable for learners who want to build a professional career in food manufacturing, food processing, catering, restaurants, hospitality, quality control and food safety management.
The programme introduces learners to the major types of food safety hazards, including biological, chemical, physical and allergenic hazards, and explains how these hazards can be identified, assessed and controlled throughout the food supply chain. Learners also develop an understanding of personal hygiene, cleaning and sanitation, pest control, temperature control, food storage, transportation and prevention of cross-contamination.
A key component of the programme is an introduction to HACCP principles and food safety management systems. Learners gain an understanding of how preventive food safety controls can be established, monitored and documented to reduce the possibility of food contamination and foodborne illness.
The course also covers Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety monitoring, internal inspections, corrective actions and food safety documentation. These subjects help learners understand how food safety procedures are implemented and maintained within professional food-related workplaces.
Through structured theoretical learning, practical examples, case studies and workplace-oriented activities, the Diploma in Food Safety helps learners develop the confidence to identify common food safety risks and contribute effectively to maintaining hygienic and safe food operations.
The programme can be particularly beneficial for food handlers, food production personnel, hospitality professionals, catering staff, quality control personnel, supervisors, students and individuals planning to enter the food safety and food quality sector.
